Now I am truly not ok with the world for the first time in my life I have to really deal with this crap!! Anthony and Skyler and believe it or not myself all have lice!!! Oh the joys of having to clean everything and Anthony was the worst he cried the whole time that I hade to comb his hair it is very short hair mind you .... I am really not excited about having to do my hair but I would rahther sit and comb my hair than having it get cut off!!!
Mom was great help too..I never knew that mayo works for it but cleaning them out of your hair!!! Thanks Mom!! Some lady walked up to me and told me to shave off their hair and put coconut oil all over their heads!! Not in this life time But now comes the fun part I have to start my hair and it is almost to my butt!! I will not be cutting my hair but it will take a while to finish it...I ask a friend of mine to come aqnd help me and she said she would but she never showep up!! Not to surprising to me though I was the nice one and called her and told her to check her kids but they didn't have it -- Would she have done the same?? I do not know!!
I have never been so embarrassed to show my face around anywhere until I fix everything!!! I am not looking forward to cleaning all the clothes and stuff but I will get "r" done!!
Well boys and girls that is it for now... I will let you know if I get it all or not!! But I promise you the hair stays!!!!!!!
Yeppers as soon as your kids start school thats what happens. If you get this stuff called NIX it is a conditioner and it will not hurt your kids. I agree with Gloria.. Especially in my job. Short hair is the best. Mayo will not kill the nits, but it smothers any live one. Plus it makes combing the nits out a bit easier. Remember once they are over 1/2" to 1" away from the scalp, the nits are usually dead. But comb, comb and comb some more. Them in 10 days you can do it again....Glad it is you and not me.. OMG Pretty Rubble here to tell you that I could do about 20 posts on the horrors of lice! Ironic, one day, back in like '94 I'm sitting there watching and giggling over an episode of Growing Pains where the Seevers gets the L word and yeh, ha ha on them.
A week later, I swear on my mom's memory, a week later, MY FAMILY GETS it!!! My 6 year old came home with it and it spread like wildfire. My 4 year son, got a crew cut, no problem. My hubby already had a crew and he had this fine blonde hair that lice didn't like. That left the three of us girls. And we all have thick, coarse hair. I couldn't bring myself to cut the girls' hair or mine so I did what I could. THE ONLY THING that truly helped was going through their hair, by hand and prying the eggs off with my fingernails. Of course we had to nix and rid and rid and nix and yeh, let's throw in some MAYO. But mostly it was just nit-pickin'.
And let's not even talk about the amount of washing I had to do. My hubby was no help, he had bad eyesight. Even my 6 year old learned the nit picking technique and she worked on me. Then one day when all three of us were on the back porch lined up like little primates grooming each other...well I knew I had hit an all time low. BUT about three or four weeks later, we were done with it...
Until 2000 and it happened again only this time all THREE of my kids were in school and I worked in a preschool for crying outloud. It kept coming back. I chopped off my hair ala "Ghost" and my girls got the axe too. It was almost too much to bear!!!
I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy---only cause my luck, it'd come back on ME! Lice...insidious but now, 6 years later after the last attack, we can,..almost,...laugh about it. Almost.
Namaste! (PS I learned 3 years ago, tea tree is very helpful. Great, NOW I KNOW.)
Miss Terri, I won't EAT mayo much less put it in my hair. Me if I get lice again (saying they pass through the internet, and through my speakers while I am mellowing out and listening to Pink Floyd and they get in my hair) I'd shave my hair off. But then I'm thinking of going back to short hair again. I spend entirely TOO much money on conditioner.

Shoot. I have a mostly shaved head nowadays anyway. Then I'd cover my head in 100 Proof Peppermint Schnapps. Mmmm mmmm. The things my liquor cabinet is useful for....7
Today is the tenth of October and I am probably too late. But here is the answer: NIX shampoo kills both the lice and their eggs. When cleaning up for lice make sure that you change "all" the bed clothing and thoughly wash all the kids clothes. When you vacuum the surfaces of the sofa, woodwork, etc. Put the toe end of a nylon stocking in the vacuum hose and it will catch the little buggers. Then you can tie a knot in the stocking and pour some bbq liter fluid on it and set it on fire. Gone forever. My wife is a pediatrician and recommends NIX exclusively for her patients with the L problem.
